Some love stories feel like they’re straight out of a movie, and Kristin and Matt’s cozy, documentary-style coffee shop engagement session was exactly that. From the moment we started planning, they envisioned something cozy and full of cinematic charm. An inviting coffee shop and vintage movie theater served as the perfect backdrop to capture their engagement.
We started the session at Brown Bag Roasters, a charming little coffee shop in Canadian, TX, that felt like it was made for their love story. As they sipped their coffee, laughed, stole sweet glances at each other, and even played a game of scrabble, I felt like I was capturing a real-life love story unfolding in front of me. Photographing Kristin and Matt was easy, as every interaction between them was so effortless.
After the coffee shop, we wandered through town. They even danced in the street, completely lost in the moment. We also made sure to stop in front of the vintage movie theater to capture those old-Hollywood romance vibes. The night ended on the Canadian River bridge where they shared kisses as a train rumbled past. I captured the sweetest moments as they truly soaked in the moment of a perfect evening together.
Cozy Documentary-Style Coffee Shop Engagement Session
Before their session, we chatted about pulling inspiration from their favorite rom-coms. It was like a light bulb went off—especially since they both work in the filmmaking industry. That connection made everything flow so naturally. It gave the entire shoot a documentary-style feel that was both relaxed and incredibly personal.
To say I am in love with the results is an understatement, as this is hands down one of my favorite sessions ever! The documentary-style approach to the shoot allowed me to capture their love in the most natural way. It felt as though I was capturing them together on a date, just being themselves. It was intimate, authentic, and perfectly romantic. Kristin and Matt’s wedding is right around the corner, and I can’t wait to see them again and capture their big day – I know it is going to be amazing!
